Principal's Message

Our Mission is to encourage children to achieve their individual academic and physical potentials within a comfortable and co-operative environment.

Curriculum

Rathdowney State School offers:

  • Proven success for all students with its unique and innovative program for Prep to Year 3 in the school’s Early Learning Centre
  • A strong emphasis on teaching the basics of literacy and numeracy

  • Involvement in community events and competitions – Rathdowney State School was the Overall Winner in the 2010 RSL “ Australian Spirit” Competition
  • An enviable and comprehensive excursion policy – including heavily-subsidised annual camps for all students, city, beach, Sydney/Canberra and the snow
  • Annual school musicals for all students from Prep –Year 7
  • An instrumental music program for students from Year 3
  • A historical and unique drum and fife band
  • Student workshops throughout the year in areas such as art, drama, music, history, science, health, dance, emergency and community services, and more
  • Cooking classes
  • An active student council whose projects include a school vegetable garden, fund-raising for charity and maintaining the school grounds
  • A playgroup at school every Wednesday
